John's vision for progress is built on three foundational pillars that address the most pressing needs of our community.

Safe and Secure Lethbridge

Public safety is a fundamental responsibility of municipal government. As a former police officer with 31 years of service, John understands the complexities of modern policing and community safety.

  • Advocate for Safer Streets: Work with the Lethbridge Police Service to implement evidence-based strategies that reduce crime and improve community safety
  • Expand Mental Health and Crisis Support: Increase funding for mental health crisis response teams and addiction support services
  • Collaborative Public Safety Approach: Foster partnerships between social agencies, Indigenous partners, and community policing strategies to address root causes of crime
  • Community Engagement: Establish regular community safety forums where residents can voice concerns and work together on solutions

Smart Growth for a Thriving City

Lethbridge is growing, and we need smart, sustainable development that creates opportunities while preserving what makes our city special.

  • Responsible Development Planning: Ensure new developments create quality jobs, attract investment, and enhance our community's livability
  • Housing Access Solutions: Address Lethbridge's growing population needs through diverse housing options that are affordable and sustainable
  • Support Local Business: Implement policies that help local entrepreneurs thrive and attract new businesses to our community
  • Infrastructure Investment: Prioritize infrastructure improvements that support economic growth while maintaining fiscal responsibility
  • Environmental Stewardship: Balance growth with environmental protection to ensure a sustainable future for generations to come

Accountability, Action and Access

Good governance requires transparency, fiscal responsibility, and meaningful public engagement. Citizens deserve a city council that is accountable and accessible.

  • Strengthen Transparency: Implement enhanced reporting mechanisms and ensure all city decisions are made with full public disclosure
  • Fiscal Responsibility: Make data-driven decisions that maximize value for taxpayers while maintaining essential city services
  • Efficient City Operations: Streamline city processes and eliminate bureaucratic barriers that slow progress and waste resources
  • Improve Public Engagement: Create more opportunities for citizens to participate in decision-making through town halls, surveys, and community forums
  • Responsive Leadership: Ensure city council is accessible to all residents and responsive to community concerns and priorities
Provincial Leadership

Motion Adopted by Alberta Municipalities

John successfully championed a motion that was adopted by Alberta Municipalities and submitted to the Government of Alberta to eliminate costs of holding and developing land for schools by towns and cities, freeing up valuable municipal capital for other essential community services and infrastructure.

This initiative demonstrates John's commitment to reducing financial burdens on municipalities while ensuring adequate educational infrastructure for growing communities.
